Scrolled Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 25, 2026
Scrolled is an iPhone app that puts an end on endless feeds. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. In short: Scrolled has no accounts and no servers, and the information it uses stays on your iPhone.
The short version
- We don't collect your personal information. Scrolled has no sign-up, no servers of its own, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party tracking or crash-reporting code.
- What Scrolled knows stays on your iPhone. Your name, age, answers, settings and in-app history are stored on your device and used there.
- Screen Time data stays with Apple. Scrolled uses Apple's Screen Time tools to block apps and show your usage, but it isn't told which apps you picked, it can't read your usage figures, and none of it is sent to us.
- The social sites are theirs, not ours. When you use Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Reddit or Facebook inside Scrolled, you're using their websites. What you do there, including signing in, goes to them under their privacy policies, not to us.
- Apple handles payments. We never see your card details or your Apple ID.
- The only way your information reaches us is if you email us.
1. Who we are
Scrolled is made by Mauro Brito (“we”, “us”, “our”). You can reach us at scrolledhelp@gmail.com.
For people in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom, Mauro Brito is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
This policy covers the Scrolled app for iPhone and the parts that come with it: its widgets, its Screen Time extensions, its Safari extension and its “Open in Scrolled” share option. It doesn't cover the third-party websites you open inside Scrolled (see section 5).
2. What “we don't collect” means
Collecting information means it leaves your device and reaches us, or someone working for us. Scrolled isn't built to do that. It has:
- no Scrolled account or sign-in;
- no servers run by us for the app to talk to;
- no analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting tools, and no third-party code libraries (SDKs) at all;
- no tracking of you across other companies' apps and websites, and no use of your device's advertising identifier.
Scrolled does use the internet: to load the websites you open in it, to check your purchases with Apple's App Store, and to download an image when you choose to save one. Those connections go to those services, not to us.
3. Information stored on your iPhone
Scrolled keeps the following on your device, in its own private storage and in a shared storage area that only Scrolled's own widgets and extensions can use. We can't see any of it.
What you tell Scrolled during setup. Your first name, your age, roughly how many hours a day you spend on short videos, which apps you lose time to, your daily allowance and the plan you picked. Scrolled uses these to greet you by name, set your allowance and work out the estimates it shows you, like the life calendar and the time you've kept. Some other setup questions (what you'd rather do with the time, when you usually scroll, what you've tried before, how many videos you remember) are used only on those screens and aren't saved.
What you do in Scrolled. How many minutes and videos you've used each day in each feed, your streak, and how much of today's allowance is left. This is what your stats, home screen and widgets show.
Your settings. Appearance, text size, and the options you've chosen for each feed.
Your blocking choices. The apps, categories and websites you asked Scrolled to block, whether blocking, hard mode and uninstall protection are on, any timed pass you've started, and how many times a blocked app's wall was shown each day. See section 4.
Links handed to Scrolled. A Reddit link you send to Scrolled from the share sheet or from Safari is kept for up to 10 minutes so Scrolled can open it, and then forgotten.
Website data. Like any browser, Scrolled's in-app browser keeps cookies, sign-ins, site storage and a cache for the sites you use in it. Apple's WebKit stores this on your device, and each site's data is sent only to that site. Scrolled's own scripts also keep a few small notes in that site storage (for example, where you were in a feed) so the pages behave consistently.
Backups. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, this information may be included in those backups, which are controlled by you and Apple.
4. Screen Time
Scrolled's blocking uses Apple's Screen Time, and only after you allow it in the system prompt.
- When you choose apps to block, Apple gives Scrolled opaque tokens instead of a list of your apps. Scrolled can count them and ask iOS to block them, but it isn't told which apps they are.
- When a blocked app's wall appears, iOS tells Scrolled's wall extension that app's name, so the wall can offer to open the matching feed in Scrolled. That note stays on your device.
- Your screen time figures, such as your daily average, are worked out and drawn by iOS inside a sealed-off extension. Scrolled can show you the number, but it can't read it, save it or send it anywhere.
- Scrolled uses Screen Time's schedules to put blocking back each day and to end a pass when its time is up.
Nothing from Screen Time leaves your device through Scrolled. Apple may sync Screen Time between your own devices; that's covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
5. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Reddit and Facebook
Scrolled shows these services' own websites inside an in-app browser. Scrolled is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them. Their names and logos belong to their owners.
- You sign in on their website. Your password goes to that service, never to Scrolled. Your sign-in is saved on your iPhone in the in-app browser's storage, so you stay signed in.
- What you do there is between you and them. Browsing, watching, liking, commenting, searching, messaging, posting and uploading all go straight to that service, which collects and uses information under its own privacy policy, including through its own cookies, just as it would in Safari.
- Scrolled changes how their pages behave, on your device. To end the feed at your allowance and make the pages work well in the app, Scrolled adds its own scripts to these pages. They run only on your iPhone. They count the videos you watch, hide parts of the page and, if you turn on the options, do things like hide sponsored posts or stop some “seen” signals the site would otherwise send. What these scripts see is used on your device and is never sent to us.
- Some features ask the site for information on your behalf. For example, showing who liked a post, or keeping TikTok's feed loading (which uses a second, hidden browser view on your iPhone that shares your TikTok sign-in). These requests go only to that service, using your own signed-in session.
- Scrolled checks whether you're signed in. For its welcome tour, Scrolled checks whether a site's sign-in cookie exists. It doesn't read, keep or send the cookie's contents.
Their privacy policies:
- Instagram (Meta): Meta Privacy Policy
- Facebook (Meta): Meta Privacy Policy
- TikTok: TikTok Privacy Policy
- YouTube (Google): Google Privacy Policy
- X: X Privacy Policy
- Reddit: Reddit Privacy Policy
Links on those sites can take you to other websites, which have their own policies.
6. Purchases
Scrolled's subscriptions and one-time purchase are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment details and your Apple ID; we never receive them. Scrolled asks the App Store, from your iPhone, whether you have an active plan, and uses the answer on your device to unlock the app. Apple gives developers sales and subscription reports that don't include your name or contact details. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
7. Notifications
Scrolled's notifications are created and scheduled on your iPhone: a reminder before a free trial ends, reminders about a pass you started, and prompts to open a feed in Scrolled from a blocked app or a shared link. Scrolled doesn't use a push notification service, and nothing about your notifications is sent to us. You can turn them off in iOS Settings.
8. Photos
If you save an image (for example, a photo someone sent you in a message, or Scrolled's icon for a Home Screen shortcut), Scrolled asks for permission to add it to your photo library. It asks only for add-only access, so it can't see the photos you already have.
9. The Safari extension, share option and widgets
- Safari extension (optional). If you turn it on in Safari's settings, it runs only on reddit.com and redd.it pages. When you open a Reddit page in Safari, it hands that page's address to Scrolled so you can read it there instead, and notes in that tab that it has already done so. It doesn't read the page's content, and nothing is sent to us.
- “Open in Scrolled.” When you share a Reddit link to Scrolled, the link is kept on your device for up to 10 minutes so Scrolled can open it.
- Widgets show your remaining allowance, read from Scrolled's storage on your device.
10. When you email us
If you tap “send feedback” in Scrolled's settings, Scrolled opens an email to scrolledhelp@gmail.com with the app version, iOS version and iPhone model filled in at the bottom, to help with bug reports. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and you can edit or delete any of it first.
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you include or attach. We use it only to reply to you, to fix problems and to improve Scrolled. We don't add you to mailing lists, and we don't share your email with anyone else unless the law requires it. Our inbox is provided by Google (Gmail), so emails are stored on Google's servers under Google's Privacy Policy, which may mean they are processed in the United States and other countries.
We keep emails for as long as we need them to help you and to keep a record of the conversation, and we'll delete them if you ask.
If you're in the EEA or the UK: we handle your emails on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you and improving Scrolled, or to take steps you have asked us to take.
11. What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information, or “share” it for targeted advertising, as those terms are used in US state privacy laws.
- We don't show ads, or use your information for advertising.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't build a profile of you.
12. Children and teens
Scrolled is not directed to children under 13. The age question during setup starts at 13, and the services Scrolled opens generally require their users to be at least 13. Because the app doesn't collect personal information, we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has sent us personal information (for example, by email), contact us and we'll delete it.
Your age answer is used only on your iPhone, to work out the estimates Scrolled shows you. It's never sent to us.
If you're under 18, please use Scrolled with a parent's or guardian's permission. Purchases by family members can be approved through Apple's Ask to Buy.
13. Keeping and deleting your information
- On your iPhone, the information in section 3 stays until you remove it.
- “Reset everything” in Scrolled's settings clears your history, streak, settings and setup answers. It doesn't change the blocking you set up, and it doesn't sign you out of the websites.
- To sign out of a website, sign out on that website inside Scrolled.
- Deleting Scrolled removes its data from your iPhone, including the website sign-ins and data stored in it. If uninstall protection is on, you'll need to turn it off first (and wait out hard mode, if that's on). Copies in your device backups follow your backup settings.
- Emails you send us are kept as described in section 10.
14. Security
Scrolled's information is protected by iOS's app sandbox and your iPhone's encryption, and its shared storage area can be used only by Scrolled's own extensions. Because we don't run servers, we hold no copy of your information that could be breached. Keep your iPhone protected with a passcode, since anyone who can unlock it can open Scrolled.
15. Your choices and rights
- Change or withdraw Scrolled's permissions (Screen Time, notifications, photos) at any time in iOS Settings.
- Clear Scrolled's data with “reset everything”, or by deleting the app.
- Ask us to delete any emails you've sent us.
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, the UK, or US states such as California), you may have the right to ask for access to, correction of, deletion of or a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict how we use it. In practice, the only personal information we can hold about you is what's in emails you've sent us. To make a request, email scrolledhelp@gmail.com. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. If you're in the EEA or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
16. Changes to this policy
If Scrolled changes in a way that affects your information, we'll update this policy and the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also let you know in the app or on this page before it takes effect.
